Wisconsin Lutheran College Provides Undergraduate Scholarship and Grant Options

Milwaukee Financial Aid Experts Recommend Researching Financial Aid Options for Private Schools

Private college tuition can be intimidating. Many college applicants and their parents worry that they won’t be able to pay for their top choice school. However, private colleges and universities tend to offer better financial aid options than state schools.

Wisconsin Lutheran College, for instance, offers merit awards, fine arts scholarships, and more. The largest scholarship WLC offers is the Presidential Scholarship, worth $15,000 per year for four years. The winner of this merit award must meet the following requirements:

  • Incoming freshman
  • Composite ACT score of at least 27 OR SAT score of 1210
  • Cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.7
  • Maintain a 3.0 GPA at WLC

Other merit awards have slightly lower requirements and still provide thousands of dollars in financial aid. If the merit requirements are too high or you need further financial aid, apply for another type of scholarship. Transfer students can be awarded up to $10,000 per year based on their GPA and transferable credits. Students with exceptional artistic, musical, or dramatic ability can apply for a fine arts scholarship and receive $1,000-$3,360 per year for four years.

Even relatively small scholarships make a big difference, such as WLC’s Honors Scholarship awarding $1,000, nonrenewable. Every scholarship and grant you receive, no matter how small, adds up and reduces student loans.

Wisconsin Lutheran College is not the only private college to offer such a range of financial aid.
