Wisconsin Minority Undergraduate Retention Grant and Other Minority Scholarships
Milwaukee College Planning Consultants Help Minority Students Receive the Most College Funding Through Qualifying Grants
The Minority Undergraduate Retention Grant is a financial aid option for minority students who have earned at least sophomore standing at any Wisconsin Technical or Tribal college, or independent colleges and universities throughout the state. For the purposes of the grant, minority students are defined as those with African American, Native American, Hispanic, Lao, Cambodian or Vietnamese heritage. Our Milwaukee college planning consultants help you get the most college funding for which you qualify!
Students will be nominated for the grant by their school’s financial aid office, following completion of the FAFSA. Awards are based on financial need with amounts ranging from $250 to $2500 per academic year, up to eight semesters (or twelve quarters, for schools using a quarter system). To remain eligible, students must stay enrolled at least half-time in their degree or certificate program.
Minority students at UW colleges and universities are not eligible for the Minority Undergraduate Retention Grant, however the University of Wisconsin System administers a similar program under the name Ben R. Lawton Minority Undergraduate Retention Grant.
There is a broad array of grant money available to students from all backgrounds in Wisconsin, if you know where to look for it. Integrated College Planning can help you and your student find the right grants, so you don’t leave higher education money on the table.
